My first barefoot shoe. I bought these looking for a walking boot that would look good, be water resistant and be comfortable on long walks. As we are currently in lockdown I haven’t been on any properly long walks yet, but have worn these boots quite a lot and have been walking the dog locally in them. I have not felt any adjustment period to the zero rise sole, although I have discovered a new inclination to walk on grass and other natural surfaces rather than sealed roads or footpaths. I think this is because I still have a tendency to heel-strike. I also enjoy the sensation of feeling undulations in the surface. Overall I find the boots comfortable to wear and they look nice and are water resistant. I presume I will have to treat them to keep this aspect as with other boots. I find that if I do up the laces too tight then the seam at the base of the tongue presses on my ankle a bit so I have to balance this aspect with my foot moving to the front of the boot when the laces are too loose. This needs to be taken into account when walking downhill stretches. I normally wear a size 40 and bought a 41. There is room for my finger behind my heel when I push my foot all the way to the front. A size 40 would definitely have been too small, though only in length because the boots are very roomy in width. The toe box is not roomy in height so if you have toenail issues or similar they might not be for you. The applet that tried to predict my size got it wrong twice, so take that aspect with a grain of salt. Another aspect I like is that the shallow tread doesn’t pick up a lot of mud and is easy to clean out. It seems to still provide plenty of grip and I think that’s in part because of the surface area and your foot’s ability to conform to the shape of the ground. Overall very pleased with this purchase.
Great shoes for hiking no need to break in feel like slippers there the best love then
The size is not ideal for my foot as I was recommended to buy a much bigger size due to the width of my foot. The fitting and design isn’t ideal for my foot (as I have a wide foot and thinner back of the foot and ankle so it bunches at the tongue when I try to make the foot secure in the bigger shoe size)….Personally I would probably not buy this brand again.
The most comfortable hiking boot ive owned, also very flexible moulds to the foot very well, good grip and warm to wear with lightweight hiling socks. Would highly recommend the Mudees! Faye at Bprimal was sooooo helpful with the purchase too! Love the service. We did go up a full size to our usual sizes though as recommended.
We love our Freet Mudee So very warm in the snow. They are flexible and the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I have just bought them for my son too and at least 4 friends have bought them after my enthusiasm. Like all barefoot shoe soles please take care as these are designed for mud and can wear quickly on hard surfaces apparently.
