I purchased the Sonora a couple years ago, as recommended by my teammate on my soccer team (naturopath podiatrist) along with the toe spacers. I tried them on and ended up a size up (I usually wear 11.5 but have a hefty bunion from a stress fracture playing soccer). I ended up in the 47 and it's perfect. I often like to take the insole out when I wear the toe spacers, or leave it in when I'm not wearing them. Either way, the cushion of the sole of the shoe is great. These look super sharp, and are my go to work shoe in a "business casual" work environment in Portland (more casual than business). I also wear them with jeans, and they look super sharp. Surprisingly, they have held up in rain and we weather much better than expected. I keep waiting for them to fall apart, but they just stick around like new. They could use a wash, but I'm not really sure how to wash the suede leather. I purchased these and the nine2fivers and if I'm being perfectly honest, the nine2fivers have been worn less than 10 times. These are way more stylish, and equally as comfortable. Nine2fivers kind of remind me of old people shoes (sorry older people, it's true).
I am snobby/picky about shoes. I got a pair of the Mariners in Sonora on the recommendation of a friend. Since then I have worn the shoes 90% of the time, almost everyday and they have only gotten better. They break in well, and the leather wears in so that they continue to age well, rather than looking beat up.They hold up in wet conditions (without jumping in puddles or multiple feet of snow obviously) like a boat type shoe should. After about a year and a half daily wear they still have plenty of life in them. My father bought a pair after I raved about them to him.
Two minor thoughts- First some of the stitching just below the eyelets on the tongue has become frayed/loose (which is to be expected with heavy use). Secondly, the laces that come with the shoes eventually wear out, and it is not the most common color to replace.
Great shoe with immediate comfort to my feet. Like the color and how the shoe can be dressed up or down depending on what you wear.
I love these shoes! Super comfortable with or without socks, and with or without the insoles. I wear them every day, and find them suitable for everyday activities as well as more formal occasions. I have the non leather lacing, and they hold up fine. No trouble there. I wear a size 44, and find the Mariner true to fit (e.g. compared to Vans Authentic size 44 the Mariner is the same). I love the zero drop and wide toe box, and I wish Lems would make a canvas casual shoe/ sneaker somewhat like Vans.
I got this shoe because i wanted a good looking, minimalist shoe. I am very pleased with the look of the shoes. They are very comfortable, i do recommend wearing socks. Overal i love the shoe and will purchase Lems again
