I love these sandals. They are very comfortable and the straps are lovely and soft. They are very straight forward to set up initially and once I got them exactly right I haven't needed to adjust them at all. Can't wait for the warmer weather!

Great experience with bprimal. Hannah provided exceptional customer service! Very happy with the sandals, they are my 3rd pair of Shammas.

I love these sandals, they’re so comfortable. My only suggestion is to change the material on the insole. When I walk long distances the plastic scratches my feet.
Perhaps next time I’ll try the leather insoles instead.

The design is unique and helps hold the sandal to the foot better and once the sole breaks in the trail can be felt underfoot. I bought a similar thin sandal from xeroshoes and its made in china quality had the straps break off from the sandal within a year and into the trash it went.

Finally a sandal wide enough! Flexible, COMfY straps not needing break in period- LOVe!

I love my shammas! They have the look of chacos and way more comfortable. I’ve gotten several compliments on them. I will continue to purchase.

These are not my first barefoot shoes, but they ARE my first barefoot sandals. And I have to say, I’m obsessed with them. Each strap area being fully adjustable is so genius and makes the difference between almost comfortable and extremely comfortable. People have also been complimenting me on them unprompted!! I highly recommend these to anyone even sort of interested. I will be a returning customer for other styles, for sure.

Lovely wide toebox! Comfortable to walk in.

I followed the instructions on fitting and the sandals are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. Looking forward to living in them all summer.

The straps are so supple yet supportive. Being able to get a custom fit on such stylish sandals is a dream. Love them - will definitely buy again.

excellent experience, high quality shoes!

While Warriors are my everyday go-to sandal, when I need a little extra protection—wading through rocky stream, hiking over cobbles—the Trailstars offer that extra security and protection while still being very light. Both Trailstars together weigh less than a single sandal of what I used to wear.

Very streamlined and minimal. I could walk all day in them. Quick to put on and off. Can get the fit just right with all the adjustment points. I got the leather footbed, and they are very grippy even when wet. I wear them walking, out shopping, and traveling (they are very sturdy, and yet all those straps give them more substance and style than a flip-flop, so they are versatile, I only packed these when going on a trip.)
I measured my feet in every way they advised, and also checked sandals I own that fit me good. It was worth it to get a pair that fits me perfectly.
They are not inexpensive, but the price is very reflective of the quality. I'm looking for a reason to buy myself more.

I like the slim look. The length was a lot longer than I expected and I trimmed the excess with a band saw.
I have had a problem with the front edge being thin, which sometimes catches on twigs and causes stumbling. I have to be mindful when not walking on flat surfaces

Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Using it wherever possible: walking, running !!!
Loved the ability to customize the strapping for optimum comfort and performance !!!
Already recommended Shamma Sandals for my wellness group.

I am really pleased with how the shoe feels on, it's adjustable straps, the flexibility of the sole, and great traction.
BUT. I have not been able to wear the shoe yet because the straps are too long for my low-ish volume feet, and I can't close the Velcro.

Amazing piece of footwear. Got these as a gift to replace my current minimalist brand. I work from home, mostly at a standing desk, and like to work out in my home gym thruout the day. These sandals fit like a glove and the toe strap is a real game changer. Holds foot perfectly. You can't even tell you have shoes on and the straps hold everything stable for calisthenics, running, lifting, anything.

Loving my trailstars so far!

I started running about 8 years ago in my late 40's, and transitioned to minimalist footwear a few years into it. I have owned several pair of 5-fingers, some custom made shoes, and a couple different sandals, and I am really impressed with the Trailstar Maximus. The infinite adjustability is amazing, and the leather footbed is crazy comfortable. With just a couple of strap adjustments, my first 5 mile run was comfortable right out of the box. I also own a pair of Warriors with the ultragrip (also a great sandal) but I am really loving these Trailstars so far.
Darren G.
I am really impressed with them. I do a lot of barefoot walking and running and these are incredible, I am particularly impressed with the strapping system which keeps sandals very securely attached on the very uneven trails that I run. They were comfortable immediately on a 10 mile hike and on my first 6 mile trail run on steeply angled paths. A great improvement on the Warriors which I loved but these take the whole barefoot feel to another level because they feel so much part of your feet

I've had minimal sandals and shoes from most of the top brands. The toe loop and grippy foot bed hold better on wet trails than any I've tried.
A.E,
Shamma Trailstars are the best-fitting sandals I've worn in many years, and particularly since transitioning completely to being barefoot and wearing barefoot-style shoes.
The toe loop holds the sandal really well to my forefeet, so I never trip on rocks or roots when hiking. I also love the adjustability -- I've been able to wear Trailstars with toe socks, which can be really helpful in colder weather.
The sandals are also terrific in wet and muddy conditions, because the inner surface of the sole doesn't slip at all. (I have the non-leather footbed.)

I have tried a number of sandals over the years and these are, by far, my favorites. Out of the box, I had them adjusted within just a few minutes. They are so comfortable especially compared to the huarache style sandals. And the adjustable toe loop keeps the foot firmly in place on the sandal - much more so than any other style I have tried.
I use these for hiking and backpacking as well as casual use.
Will definitely buy again.

I have high volume feet and I needed the long straps. The TrailStars are my favorite summer shoe! I wear them everyday and they are very comfortable and durable.
Alexander
So, I've been walking with barefoot shoes for the last 5 years. Tried various minimalist sandals from various companies. I can honestly say that the TRAILSTARS MAXIMUS are the most comfortable sandals I tried.
I also have the Alpha but just love the 9mm sole, feel more connected. I usually wear barefoot shoes between 5 and 8mm stack height, so used to ground feel.
Can also add that my feet are 26cm long, medium wide feet and size 9 fits perfectly.
Elizabeth
I’m running on asphalt with them. I haven’t run with them on trails yet because of the super rooty trails and fire ants here. I use them also as casual sandals. Fit is amazing so comfortable. My first pair of running sandals and I’m in love. Shamma was great answering all my questions on fit. I went with the shorter straps because my feet are narrow but I have a high arch they fit me phenomenally.

I was a long time chaco wearer looking for a barefoot replacement. The trailstars are perfect! They are really well made, easily adjustable, perfect amount of ground feel, non slip in wet and dry conditions, and super cute. I wore them for a week straight at the beach, and they were very comfortable the whole time. The sizing template led me to the perfect size, and email communication from the team was helpful. I'm so happy with these sandals!!
Elizabeth
I am so excited to wear these sandals and to put them to the test. I was a die-hard Chaco wearer before switching to barefoot shoes last fall. Since then my Chacos hurt my feet. So I wanted to find a barefoot sandal that had a similar strap style, which is why I chose these. Just from trying them on and adjusting their fit to me, I am so excited to wear these this summer! Adjusting the straps was super easily. I love the feel of the straps and the sole. Great quality!

I’ll never go back to normal shoes again

Too soon to Tell.

Amazing sandals I love to wear them out on my hikes and feel very free with them on! I can’t wait to go out on more adventures in my Shamma shoes!
Mark C.
Great fit with minimal break-in period. However, as I have a “thinner” feet, the straps ended up too long. Hence I am unable to get a proper fitting even after multiple adjustments. Nonetheless, great pair which went through Bintan with my family.
Maria B.
I love my Shanna TrailStars Maximus! Sizing, the look, the comfort, and the durability are all perfect for me! The only minor issue was a little pain at the base of my foot where the back straps attach after wearing them for several hours. I'm sure that after more regular wear, that will not be an issue!
Whitney M.
Very excellent experience. Quality top notch product.

The Trailstars Maximus have been my favorite sandals to date. They tick most of the boxes for me, especially when it comes to performing for different sports. My feet haven’t slipped in them when wet which is a huge plus. A couple of issues I’ve had is that they did not withstand the rugged terrain in the competitive setting of my 50k Spartan Ultra. The big toe sole anchor broke off. I suppose it was from running on rocks and in a few pond/river crossings with them. I did have to take them off a couple of times as I was not moving efficiently in the water with them. I think small holes in them would help. Overall, they are better than the 2 different Xero sandals I also own.
Albert S.
The sandals are fantastic and are easy to adjust, fit as snuggly as I want and they've quickly become my new running/walking sandals. Love them!
Vanessa T.
I love how comfortable it is even in wet weather
Christopher C.
I love the feel and fit of the sandals, but one of the plastic pieces that hold the straps in broke on the trail and I had to kind of limp home. Customer support sent new plastic pieces, but honestly I don’t want to rely on them anymore in situations where I bought them for. I’ve switched to another sandal.
Jonas V.
By far the best footwear I’ve ever had. Really love them! If I could submit some wishes for future models, I would say…
1. Straps of a material that is less water absorbant. In very wet weather, this material can take a while to dry
2. The 3 plugs that hold the straps at the front are made of plastic. Sometimes it sticks out a little and makes a clickety click boise on hard surfaces. Would be much better if it was made of hard rubber or something.
Robert C.
I love the way the toe loop keeps your foot locked in laterally to keep the sandal centered on the foot. However coming from the standard Shamma design, I found the toe loop can feel constricting at first. I'm used to the freedom of flexing my toes up and down, but the loop locks it in place almost like an enclosed shoe. But after a while I get used to it and it feels totally comfortable.
Ground feel and flexibility are excellent since it uses the same sole as the Warriors Maximus. Construction seems equivalent to the other performance models. I have low to medium volume feet and the standard straps are a bit long.
Donald B.
This is my 4th pair of Shamma’s so I’m a bit biased. These Trailstars Maximus are the best. They hug your feet and feel very secure. So far took them on a few rucks and trips to a swimming hole. I love the thinner stack height and ground feel. Next time I will get the goat skin as the design of the sandals will keep them secure even when wet so the max grip will s not needed. The goat skin also feels great as I’m on my second pair of Mountain Goats.

Just received these and overall I like them. The strap system is very clever and really secures the sandals to the feet. I was getting tired of my feet slipping on the footbed of a different brand every time I stepped in water, so these are a major improvement in that regard. The sole is a little thicker than I'm used to but quite flexible and soft, so I'm okay with the tradeoff. They're also a nice change in style from the huarache-style sandals, and they're a smidge wider than other minimalist brands, which my feet appreciate.
The one thing that I would change (and that I felt was worth taking a star off, as it really affects the fit), is that the soft part of the velcro that goes over the instep is too long and goes too far toward the medial side/instep of the foot. Because of this, there's a lot of strap length that can't be used to lengthen the toe and over-the-foot straps, and even with the extra long straps, they're a little snug on me. Wishing that the fuzzy part of the velcro was even just 1/2 an inch shorter in this direction. (Also, FWIW, the velcro doesn't look super heavy duty, so hoping it lasts a while!)
Aliza E.
The sandals fit great and seem quite durable. I enjoy wearing them whether I'm hiking, biking around town, walking in the neighborhood or splashing around in a lake. And they wash and dry so easily -- just a quick rinse in the sink, prop them up to drain on a towel and they're ready the next morning.
Scott I.
This is a very comfortable sandal once you dial in the fit. I’ve been walking a couple of kms every morning in my TrailStar Maximus. They cling to my feet, so none of that annoying sandal slap. I also like the over the big toe strap more than the one strap running up the center of my foot like my two pair of Shamma Warriors. Feel the freedom of living in sandals.
Alessandra G.
I'm diappointed in the lack of comfort for the high cost. Wanted to love these sandals, as I'm an ardent believer/wearer of barefoot shoes
Matilda A.
I measured me feet and I thought I got the right size but they were a tad too small so the toe strap is digging into my foot. But it's all good as I loosen the back straps.
