Initially they seemed a bit stiff, compared to another sandal of the same thickness, and obviously, at 12mm there isn't much ground feel. After a couple of 10K walks to get used to them, they turned out to be comfortable running 5K, all on the road. They work quite well on trails in the dry, but the tread isn't aggressive enough on slick surfaces. I've trimmed around the forefoot area for a better fit, something I would often do with sandals of other brands. They are very well made, how long they will last is yet to be determined. As a casual sandal, or for transition to 0 drop footwear I recommend them. Would I buy another pair? Probably.
The sandals are world class! Top! Top league among Huarache-style sandals! A ten with an asterisk !!! I know what I'm talking about because I've tried countless minimalist sandals. What excites me the most is the perfect fit on the foot. I have the problem with almost all sandals that the heel strap slips. Nothing slips here, on the contrary, you don't feel this sandal at all, it nestles so perfectly. The damping makes you walk like on clouds. You don't feel much of the underground, but I also strangely don't miss it. The grip of the sole is perfect on all surfaces. Overall, the workmanship is, typical of joe nimble, excellent. For me, the sandal is highly recommended.
