SIZING & FIT GUIDE

Our Fit recommendation for this shoe based on customer feedback: Fit is Small-Average, some people wear 1/2 size larger than their normal UK size in this model do to low volume at the front of the shoe, especially important if you wish to wear thick socks.

If you don't know your normal UK size, or would like to double check sizing for this model, please use the sizing tools we have provided here like this:

1. Print out our Printable Size Guide for this model and stand on it - making sure your printer is set to 100% Scale. Choose the size where your longest toe finishes. If you are on the line, consider if you will be wearing thick socks, or prefer to have less or more space in your shoes and choose accordingly.

2. Use our Strutfit online sizing app to check your feet measurement and it will tell you what size to order - Click on "WHAT IS MY SIZE?" above. You will need an a4 sheet of paper and a smartphone for this. Once you have done this once, it will also tell you what size you need for all the other shoes on our website as you browse through other models.

3. Use the sizing chart provided which shows the insole length and width of the shoe which you can use to compare the measurements against another pair of shoes that fit you well. Or you can compare them with a sizing chart from another brand and work out your size that way. This is not a fool-safe way though, as the volume and material in the upper of the shoe can also make a big difference to the fit so best to use this in conjunction with one of the other sizing methods.

We don't recommend manually measuring your feet to work out sizing, as in our experience most people measure incorrectly without the use of a proper tool such as a brannock device.

The Joe Nimble Wander Toes 2 are very well made and use soft leather.
They have a cushioned sole which is great for walking in and I like that they don’t have deep mud-collecting tread.
I love the quick & easy lacing and I like the way they look.
I’m size 44 in other shoes and these fit me well. The insole is the same shape as Lems size 11.5.
I have very wide feet and my toes do feel snug in width but they don’t hurt or rub.

I’m size 44 in most shoes and other reviews said go up half a size. I tried 45 but they were way too big so I changed to 44 and they fit great. The toes feel more snug than my LEMS (11.5) but the insole is almost exactly the same shape. I think they will give a little in time and be perfect; I don’t like long shoes that I trip over and I don’t wear really thick socks. The leather and stitching is top notch.
The shoes feel very stable to walk in. It feels like there is some arch support in the insole. I love the easy lacing and I think they look great. They don’t look clownish at all. Overall, I’m very happy with them!

Comfortable and good boot but the tread was a bit underdeveloped

Just did 5 months backpacking and trekking through South America in these and pretty much tested it on every terrain.
The leather is excellent quality and the waterproofing is effective . Bootlaces are strong . Warm in the cold and also comfortable in the warmer weather.
They are so Light and become more and more comfortable and flexible over time and have a nice balance between lightness and sturdiness.
The big thing that let these down for me though and caused disappointment is the tread. Even when these were brand new I was slipping around on wet pavement in the city and almost had a few falls from the grip not holding . As soon as there’s a smooth or slightly wet smooth surface these shoes just don’t hold well. They are great on gravel and rougher terrain. I probably pushed these to beyond what they’re designed for but they’re not really a serious hiking shoe , although with some improvements and upgrades on the tread design while still maintaining the lightweight feel they could be really great boots that would last a long time in all kinds of conditions.
After 5 months the tread is worn down quite a lot too.
Still a great boot, possibly the most comfortable boot I’ve ever worn .

🌱 Joe Nimble specific FAQ's

Why choose Joe Nimble® running shoes?

Joe Nimble shoes are all about uncompromising toefreedom® — letting your toes spread naturally and giving your big toe its full stabilising power. With ToePilot® technology, the big toe anchors every step so you can move with stability and strength.

Conventional shoes often pinch or reshape the foot with tapered toe boxes and raised soles. Joe Nimble shoes are built differently — with a wide, foot-shaped toe box and designs that follow the natural asymmetry of the human foot. The result? Shoes that restore your feet’s natural function and support your whole body’s alignment.

Why is toe freedom important for runners?

Your big toe is the powerhouse of your stride — it stabilises the body and absorbs up to 10% of force during push-off. Traditional, tapered shoes squeeze the big toe inward, robbing it of its central role and throwing the body out of balance.

Joe Nimble fixes the root of the problem. Designed with input from biomechanics experts, these shoes allow your toes to spread, your big toe to engage, and your body to move the way it was built to. That means stronger strides, better balance, and fewer injuries.

Why do you need space in front of your toes?

Your feet change size throughout the day — slightly shorter in the morning and longer by evening. That’s why room in front of the toes is essential. It allows your foot bones and cartilage to move freely, keeps circulation flowing, and prevents pressure points. We recommend about 10mm of space from your longest toe to the shoe’s front edge for natural comfort (no more than 18mm).

How do I determine my Joe Nimble shoe size?

There’s a size chart for quick reference on each product, that shows the inner shoe length. Your toes should always have space to move freely: this is especially important for running. We recommend approx 10-12mm of space in front of your toes (no less than 6mm and no more than 18mm). Refer to our comprehensive Find your Perfect Fit page for guidance on exactly how to measure your feet and choose the right size.

Still not sure? Reach out to info@bprimal.com — the team is always happy to help.

What foot widths are Joe Nimble’s suitable for?

Joe Nimble shoes don’t need multiple width options because they’re designed on a natural, asymmetrical last. The shoes follow the real shape of the foot instead of squeezing it into a narrow, symmetrical mould.

Are Joe Nimble Women’s Shoes Narrower Than Those Men’s?

Not at the toes — toe freedom is non-negotiable for everyone. The only difference is at the heel, where women’s feet are naturally narrower. Otherwise, the principle of toefreedom® applies across all models.

How Long Do Joe Nimble Soles Last?

Sole durability depends on factors like running surface, shoe model, mileage, body weight, and running style. For example, trail soles are built for rugged off-road use, but will wear faster on asphalt.

Expect wear patterns to differ depending on how and where you use them.

Are Joe Nimble shoes better for trail or road?

Both! Every model is designed with maximum toe freedom. The difference lies in sole thickness and grip:

  • Thinner soles = more sensory feedback (great for shorter runs or stable surfaces)
  • Thicker soles = more cushioning and protection (ideal for long distances or uneven trails)
Can beginners run in Joe Nimble shoes?

Absolutely. These shoes are built around the natural anatomy of the foot, so your body doesn’t need to adapt to the shoe — the shoe adapts to you. That makes them just as suitable for beginners as for seasoned runners.

Are there waterproof shoes?

Yes. Joe Nimble offers models that are:

  • Waterproof – built with a membrane to keep feet dry even in heavy rain, while staying breathable
  • Water-repellent – treated to resist light drizzle (but may allow water in after longer use)
  • Non-waterproof – allows natural breathability but won’t resist rain

Check each product description for details, and refresh water-repellent pairs with a spray when needed.

How can I clean my Joe Nimble shoes?
  • Remove the footbed and wash shoes by hand in lukewarm water with mild soap
  • Let them air dry naturally (never on a heater)
  • Use a textile shoe cleaner for stubborn stains
  • For soaked shoes, stuff with newspaper and replace regularly until dry
  • Finish with a hoe deodorant for long-lasting shoe freshness, and a waterproofing spray for textile shoes
  • Don’t use a washing machine or dryer
Can I waterproof my shoes?

Yes. Textile models can be treated with a suitable waterproofing spray for added protection. Be sure to use a spray that is suitable for textile materials and follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.

Waterproof models already include a built-in membrane, so they don’t need extra treatment.

How can I care for my shoes so they last longer?

With a little care, your Joe Nimble shoes will keep supporting your adventures for the long haul:

  • Use a shoe tree to maintain shape and absorb moisture
  • Let shoes dry fully between wears (avoid direct heat)
  • Clean regularly with suitable care products, this preserves the elasticity of the upper material and protects it from drying out
  • Apply waterproofing sprays when needed, if applicable
  • Use shoe deodorant to kill bacteria and keep them fresh
What Is There Is A Problem With My Shoes?

We always look to be reasonable and fair in resolving any problem you have with your order from us. Please email info@bprimal.com with your order number and photos.
