🌱 LEMS SHOES SPECIFIC FAQ'S
I’m not sure which style to choose. Do you have a comparison chart?
We get it — with so many great styles, it can be tricky to pick just one! To make life easier, Lems has put together a handy chart that compares all the styles side by side. You’ll find details like weight, flexibility, traction, and stack height, so you can see exactly how each shoe measures up.
Check it out on our Lems Sizing and Fitting Info page.
How do I choose the right size?
The size chart for each product shows the inner length and width of each shoe model. Your toes should always have space to move freely: we recommend approx 12mm of space in front of your toes (no less than 6mm and no more than 18mm). Refer to our comprehensive Find your Perfect Fit page for guidance on exactly how to measure your feet and choose the right size.

How Wide Are Lems Shoes?
Lems Shoes come in 3 Natural-Shape™ widths: MEDIUM, WIDE and WIDEST, depending on the model. Please refer to our Lems Sizing and Fitting Info page for the comparison between models.

*Please note, dispatch for preorders is typically 3-4 weeks.
Should I choose a shoe with an IBR outsole or a full rubber outsole?
It depends on what you're looking for in performance and durability:
- Injection Blown Rubber (IBR) outsoles are exceptionally lightweight, flexible, and comfortable—ideal for everyday use and casual activities. However, this lightweight design means they’re slightly less durable than full rubber soles, and may wear down more quickly if used on rough terrain.
- Full rubber outsoles are more robust and rugged, offering better traction and durability—this makes them great candidates for hiking, trail running, or extended outdoor adventures.
How Can Lems Shoes Benefit You?
With their unique design, featuring a wide toe-box, flexible material, and zero-drop outsole, Lems shoes have the ability to aid in correcting common foot ailments, increase strength in the lower extremities, allow for greater balance, and help realign your posture. Plus, they are just down right comfortable.
I Have Never Worn Barefoot Shoes; Will Lems Shoes Work For Me?
Yes! You may experience some discomfort at first, but, know that this just means the tendons and muscles in your feet adapting to the lack of support that most contemporary shoe companies incorporate into their designs. This should subside over a short period of time.
We typically recommend wearing the shoes sparingly at first, and then progressing to longer durations of wear. It’s all about the transition! Trust the process.
What’s the difference between the Primal 3 and the Primal Zen?
The Primal 3 and Primal Zen are both everyday barefoot shoes with plenty in common — zero-drop, a wide toe box, breathable mesh uppers, and all-day comfort. Here’s where they differ:
- Primal Zen: More relaxed fit with an attached tongue, firmer heel, slightly higher stack height, and an athletic look.
- Primal 3: Snugger fit in the arch and heel, detached tongue for flexibility, softer heel, and a sleeker, more minimal appearance.
Both are great for everyday adventures — walking, commuting, or kicking around town. Go Zen if you prefer sporty style, or Primal 3 if you like a minimalist look.
Which waterproof boot is best for me?
Lems has several waterproof boot options, and to help you choose, they’ve created a comparison chart: Lems Sizing and Fitting Info. You’ll see all the key specs side by side.
Insole specifications - what is the difference?
Some of the Lems insoles are cork, and some are poly. All shoes are sold with the insoles inside the shoe - but they are interchangeable and can be easily trimmed with scissors if needed.
For more information on each insole thickness, go to the product page for each insole, click SPECS, and read more.
Do you have any shoes made specifically for women?
Yes! The Laguna is designed just for women, with a narrower heel collar and a slip-on style that’s sleek and versatile. For a slightly less wide option, the Trailhead has a D-width toe box — narrower than most other Lems styles.
Are Lems heavy-duty work boots?
Not quite. Lems boots are lightweight, flexible, and shaped to let your toes splay naturally. They’re not designed for the heavy-duty durability of traditional work boots.
Will Lems help with bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, or other foot issues?
Many customers with these foot conditions have found relief in Lems thanks to the roomy toe box, flexibility, and zero-drop platform. That said, it’s always best to chat with your doctor to see if Lems are right for you.
I have flat feet. Can I wear Lems?
Absolutely! If your flat feet feel good with minimal arch support, wide toe boxes, and flexible soles, Lems could be a great fit for you. Many people with flat feet find them super comfortable.
Can I Wear Lems Shoes With Custom Orthotics?
All of Lems shoes feature an insole within the shoes that can be removed to allow room for almost all custom orthotics.
Are Lems insulated for cold weather?
Lems shoes and boots aren’t insulated or temperature-rated. But pair them with warm socks or insulated insoles, and you’ll be adventure-ready even when it’s chilly. We recommend pairing with Bprimal Merino Wool toe socks to keep your feet cozy.
How Would You Recommend Cleaning My Lems?
For shoes featuring mesh or canvas, use lukewarm water and mild dish soap to hand wash your shoes. Please allow your shoes to air dry completely over 24hrs before wearing.
*Please note: If you soak your shoes in hot water for a period of time, this can cause the dye fixative or mordant to be removed and can result in the colour running. As Lems shoes have a rubber outsole, high heat washing can also shrink the shoes, so Lems do not recommend putting your shoes in the washer.
For leather shoes, use a suitable leather care cleaner To dry your shoes, just leave them out at room temperature and not expose them to heat.
Do Lems contain latex?
Some styles do. Here’s the breakdown:
- Contain latex in the elastic: Chelsea Boots, Drifters, Laguna.
- Contain latex in the rubber soles: Boulder Summit, Outlander, Boulder Boot Grip, Kourt Grip, Primal Pursuit.
Do I Need To Order A Size Larger To Accommodate The Correct Toes?
In most cases you should not have to order a larger size to allow room for Correct Toes. We recommend removing the insole when you are wearing correct toes, to create extra volume in the shoe if you need it. If you have a very wide foot you may have to order one size up to accommodate the Correct Toes.
What Is There Is A Problem With My Shoes?
We always look to be reasonable and fair in resolving any problem you have with your order from us. Please email info@bprimal.com with your order number and photos.
