Power Straps are additional, optional straps for your sandals, and they give extra support and security when needed! Power Straps are not required for the use of our sandals, however they are helpful when you are doing more intense activities (such as long runs, intense hikes, or water use). They also provide a nice feeling of security, especially if you aren't used to barefoot shoes. Power Straps are easy to put on and take off of your sandals, so that you can get extra security and support when needed, and go full minimal when not!

We now offer a pickup option from our stores in Neutral Bay, NSW & Northcote, VIC (ONLY for items in stock at the store). *Please note, you cannot order items for pick up and online delivery in the same order - you must select either the 'Pick Up' or 'Ship' delivery option at checkout.

If you selected Pick Up at checkout, you will receive an email notification when your order is ready for collection (usually within 24 hours). Pick up is available during store hours.

International Duties & Taxes — New Zealand

For New Zealand orders over NZD $1,000, import duties and taxes may apply when your order arrives. These charges are set by New Zealand customs and are not included or collected at checkout.

Any duties, taxes, or customs fees are the customer’s responsibility and will need to be paid directly on arrival. Unfortunately, we’re unable to cover or reimburse these charges.

If your order isn’t right for you, you can return it for a refund* or exchange within 60 days of receiving your order. Item must be unworn and in BRAND NEW condition in original box with tags still attached (if applicable). Care Guide

Shamma Sandals are high quality sandals that will last through almost any condition! That being said, you may want to clean or care for your sandals from time to time, especially after those intense trails.

For UltraGrip sandals, we recommend washing the sandals with cool water, and only if needed, a mild soap. Air dry the sandals in a place of moderate temperature, making sure to keep the sandals out of direct heat, sunlight, or steam.

For leather sandals, we recommend using Leather Cleaner + Conditioner.

Please note-As with most materials, when our sandals are stored or placed in intense temperatures and conditions, there is a chance that they can lose their integrity or shape. Conditions such as direct sunlight, heat, cold, steam, or prolonged moisture may damage the sandals. These conditions are nothing to worry about when you're wearing the sandals- only if you store the sandals in any of these conditions or leave them in any of these conditions as part of the cleaning process, there is a chance they could be damaged. We recommend keeping your sandals in a dry, moderate place away from extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

While doing my research and asking around about my foot size and which Shamma size would fit me best, I came across a detail that mentioned using the Power Straps if you plan on doing more than just walking—like running or any activity where you need your slides to stay securely on your feet.
I read several reviews saying that the Power Straps are the best add-on to pair with any Shamma slides, so I ordered them together with my Cruzers. It did take me a bit of time to figure out how to attach them properly. I actually had to test my Cruzers on a beach walk, sit down, and finally adjust and attach the Power Straps—and OMG, I should have done this much earlier!
I’m now so excited for my next beach holiday, where I’ll be wearing my Shamma Cruzers with the Power Straps. Lesson learned though: please wear sunscreen on your feet… don’t be like me 😄

I had a pair that were well broken in but the back straps had become loose to the point of slides down. After years of wear you can’t just adjust a little bit so I thought it might be the end. The power strap stops that slippage so they will have years more life.

My sandals (All Browns) were a great fit for my foot shape, but the heel strap tended to ride low for me which didn't feel secure. As a shamma 7.5 I ordered the XS power straps per the guideline. They fit, but had a lot of velcro showing which I really didn't like the look of on a leather sandal. So I exchanged for S power straps. Those fit perfectly at first, but have stretched out over time and now have extra overhanging length. But they do a great job of making my sandals feel very secure. I like the style of the extra strap, too. However, now I know for next time to stick with the XS straps because they do stretch.

I got two pairs of these to pair with two pairs of all browns for my partner and myself. The original sandal without is comfortable and with adjustments (due to stretching leather straps) wear really well. But if you want rock hard stability, the power straps give that and then some. Your sandal is not going to move between proper fitting and these things and it feels great to run in. My partner just leaves the straps on all the time while I take mine off and on depending on what I plan to use my sandals for. Running, jogging, hiking or any intensive activity I strap them on. If I am just wearing them about town or a casual walk though, I enjoy just how comfortable the normal sandal is.

Word of advice, if you have a high arch like me or a thicker foot like my partner does, size up one on the straps! You won't be sorry.

Bottom line: The sandals will wear well without them. But if you don't like slipping at all period, get these straps!

How do I choose the right size?

The size chart for each product shows the sandal length and width of each shoe model (US sizes). We recommend approx 12mm of space in front of your toes (no less than 6mm and no more than 18mm). Do you carry women’s sizes?

Which sandal is right for me?

That depends on where your adventures take you. Each sandal has its own strengths, whether you’re looking for more ground feel, extra grip, or something built for wet conditions. On every product page, you’ll find clear details on the sole, footbed, and lacing system to guide your choice.

Are Shammas only good for running?

Not at all. While they’re amazing for running, they’re built for all kinds of movement and everyday wear. Wear them on a hike, a walk through town, or just to kick back. They’re performance sandals that keep up with your lifestyle.
Can I wear Shammas in wet conditions?

Yes — especially the UltraGrip models, which are waterproof, quick-drying, and ideal for everything from stream crossings to rainy adventures.

Leather editions handle normal foot sweat well, but they don’t love being soaked. Wet leather can feel slippery and may change color, which is totally natural for that material. For full immersion (like swimming or river trekking), pair your sandals with Power Straps for extra hold.
How long does it take to break them in?

Not long. Within a few days, the toe strap will soften, followed by the heel straps and laces. Around the 1–2 week mark, the soles will mould beautifully to your feet, and by 3–4 weeks, they’ll feel like a second skin. Think of it as your sandals “hugging” your feet—like finding your favourite spot on the couch.
Can you feel the toe plug underfoot?

Nope. Toe plugs are counter-sunk and sit flush with the sole, so you won’t notice them. The only exception is with Warriors soles, where you might feel the plug briefly during break-in. Once the sole forms around your foot, it blends right in.
Are the soles protective?

Yes — they protect while still giving you that barefoot ground feel. The Warriors sole offers the most natural connection to the ground, while the TrailStar Omega sole provides the most protection. Over time, the sole moulds to your unique footprint for a custom fit.
Will the laces wear out if they touch the ground?

Not at all. Shamma laces are built tough and last as long as the sandal (and usually beyond). Even if they graze the ground, they won’t wear through thanks to the way the sole lifts and protects them.
How do I care for my Shamma Sandals?

They’re made to last, but a little care keeps them happy:

  • UltraGrip sandals: Wash with cool water and mild soap if needed. Air dry away from direct heat, sunlight, or steam.
  • Leather sandals: Use a suitable Leather Cleaner + Conditioner for the best results.

Are Shamma sandals vegan?

All UltraGrip top models are vegan. Just look for the UltraGrip footbed option when choosing your pair.
