SIZING & FIT GUIDE

Our Fit recommendation for this shoe based on customer feedback: Fit is True to Size. We recommend to allow 6-14mm of space for your toes. The amount of space you have will depend on how the length of your feet compares to the sizing. The ideal fit for you will depend on how wide your feet are and/or if you prefer your footwear to fit snug or spacious.

If you don't know your normal EU size, or would like to double check sizing for this model, please use the sizing tools we have provided here like this:

1. Print out our Printable Size Guide for this model and stand on it - making sure your printer is set to 100% Scale. Choose the size where your longest toe finishes. If you are on the line, consider if you will be wearing thick socks, or prefer to have less or more space in your shoes and choose accordingly.

2. Use our Strutfit online sizing app to check your feet measurement and it will tell you what size to order - Click on "WHAT IS MY SIZE?" above. You will need an a4 sheet of paper and a smartphone for this. Once you have done this once, it will also tell you what size you need for all the other shoes on our website as you browse through other models.

3. Use the sizing chart provided which shows the insole length and width of the shoe which you can use to compare the measurements against another pair of shoes that fit you well. Or you can compare them with a sizing chart from another brand and work out your size that way. This is not a fool-safe way though, as the volume and material in the upper of the shoe can also make a big difference to the fit so best to use this in conjunction with one of the other sizing methods.

We don't recommend manually measuring your feet to work out sizing, as in our experience most people measure incorrectly without the use of a proper tool such as a brannock device.

🌱 Vivobarefoot Footwear specific FAQ's

What makes Vivobarefoot soles so special?

Vivobarefoot soles are designed to be ultra-thin, stable, and strong, so every step lets you feel the ground beneath you. This sensory feedback is what helps your body balance, move, and flow naturally.

Most soles (except the Ultra) have a patented Pro5 puncture-resistant layer, giving you up to five times the protection of other minimalist brands. They’re not completely puncture-proof (that’s not possible without compromising on the barefoot experience), but they strike the perfect balance between safety and freedom.

How do I choose the right size?

The size chart for each product shows the inner length and width of each shoe model (EU shoe size).  Your toes should always have space to move freely: this is especially important for running.

We recommend approx 12mm of space in front of your toes (no less than 6mm and no more than 18mm). Refer to our comprehensive Find your Perfect Fit page for guidance on exactly how to measure your feet and choose the right size.

How do I know if my shoes fit?

Fit comes down to personal preference — some like it snug, others like a little extra room to roam. When you receive your shoes, spend some time wearing them indoors to get used to them and decide whether they are right for you.

Vivobarefoot shoes have a wide toebox to allow toes to move and spread naturally, no heel (zero drop) and a fully flexible outsole. If you’re used to traditional shoes, you might initially find they feel softer and less structured. That’s a good thing — your feet are simply discovering their freedom to spread, flex, and move the way nature intended. Your toes should feel completely unrestricted.

Why are there different soles if they’re all barefoot shoes?

Every sole is built on the same philosophy of natural movement, just adapted to the environment you’ll explore. Nature’s never one-size-fits-all, and neither are your adventures. That’s why Vivobarefoot makes a variety of soles — so whether you’re navigating rugged trails, city streets, or heading to the office, your feet stay free and supported.

Are Vivobarefoot shoes designed for running?

Vivobarefoot have a range of shoes specifically designed for running (both road and trail), while many of their other models are made for casual wear, gym training, hiking, and everyday life.

Tip: Use the menu to browse by activity.

Do Vivobarefoot shoes have arch support?

Vivobarefoot shoes don’t have built-in arch support, but here’s the magic: placing your foot in its natural position with a level heel and extended big toe helps your arch strengthen and support itself.

Do I need to transition to barefoot shoes?

Yes, switching to barefoot shoes can take some adjustment time if you’ve been wearing traditional shoes. If you’re looking to move more naturally and strengthen your feet, barefoot shoes are a great choice.

Start slow, your body may need a few days, weeks or even months to adapt — try short walks or light use first. If you feel some discomfort, ease off and build up gradually. Over time, your feet will grow stronger.

Can I wear Vivos if I’ve had injuries before?

Yes — but ease into it. Transitioning to barefoot shoes can be a beautiful reset for your body, but it’s not something to rush. Start small, especially if you’ve been in corrective footwear. It’s best to skip long walks or runs until your feet and muscles adjust. If you’re recovering from injury, check in with a medical professional to guide your journey safely.

Do I need to wear socks or insoles with my Vivos?

It’s up to individual preference and comfort. Some prefer the pure barefoot experience — no socks, no insoles, just feet meeting freedom.

Vivobarefoot offers insoles in different styles (performance, thermal, cork everyday). It’s your call, so experiment and see what feels best for your journey.

Why does sizing vary across styles?

The materials used make the difference. For instance, a leather shoe may feel snug at first compared to a flexible mesh running. Leather softens and adapts to your foot over time, while mesh gives flexibility straight out of the box. If things feel a little tight, try removing the insole — this might give you all the extra room you need!

Why are Vivobarefoot shoes more expensive than regular shoes?

At first glance, they look simpler — fewer parts, minimal design. But that simplicity is exactly what makes them special. Vivobarefoot invests in premium materials and skilled craftsmanship. You’re paying for quality, durability, and a design that restores your natural movement — not for unnecessary extras that compromise your foot health.

How do I clean and care for my Vivo shoes?

It’s best to stick to natural products for cleaning and weather protection. For our performance shoes, a splash of soapy cold water works wonders (avoid using the washing machine). Suitable products for leather care are great too, or an effective liquid repellent coating for your shoes to safeguard against spills and splashes.

We recommend referring to the specific care guide for each product.

Where does the leather come from?

Most of Vivobarefoot’s leather comes from wild hide — free-roaming cattle raised by families and communities in and around Ethiopia. They’re committed to exploring new sustainable alternatives, aiming for a circular economy where new products are made from old ones.

They also work closely with Pittards PLC, a leather innovator with more than 200 years of expertise.
