Intro to Functional Running & Minimalist Transition
A hands-on workshop for runners who are done guessing — and ready to actually fix how they move.
Why You Need to Be Here
Most runners are one bad habit away from their next injury. And most minimalist shoe advice online is either vague or flat-out wrong. Join us at our Northcote Bprimal store with Tom Simak (Australian Athletics qualified coach, co-founder of Wild Blue Performance Running) for two hours of cutting through the noise to get the logic, mechanics, the drills, and the honest conversation about transitioning to minimalist footwear - without tearing your calves.
What to Expect
-
Understand how you actually should be moving - the biomechanics of functional running broken down without the nonsense
-
A clear, honest roadmap for transitioning to minimalist shoes - at a pace that doesn't wreck you
-
Practical drills at the track you can take straight into your next session
-
Direct access to Tom for Q&A
-
Hands-on time at BPrimal - try shoes, ask questions, and get guidance from people who actually know their product

Meet Your Trainer - Tom Simak

Tom Simak is an Athletics Australia certified coach, co-founder of Wild Blue Performance Running, and a Melbourne-based runner who's rebuilt his own body from the ground up.
He's done the hard yards, including the David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge (6.5km every 4 hours, 48 hours straight). But it wasn't the extreme stuff that changed how he coaches. It was what came after: breaking the cycle of recurring niggles, understanding how the foot actually interacts with the ground, and rebuilding his own movement from scratch. That experience shaped a no-BS, science-based coaching approach he uses to help everyday athletes strip back the noise, transition safely to natural footwear, and build bodies that hold up long-term.
Lock It In - Only 15 Spots
This is intentionally small. 15 people. That's it. Small enough that Tom can actually watch you move, correct what needs correcting, and give you something real to take away. When it's full, it's full.
