This was our first production of barefoot school shoes — designing barefoot footwear can be a tricky balance between flexibility and durability, especially for school shoes that are worn by active kids, every day.
We’ve taken customer feedback, wear testing, and long-term durability insights very seriously, and have been busy redeveloping our shoes from the ground up. Our next production run (new stock expected in April) will feature a completely new sole composition designed to significantly improve durability, while maintaining the flexibility and comfort barefoot shoes are known for.

I really like the comfort of these sandals but the dye transfers to my feet and leaves black stains. Not very pleasant.

These sandals are made using natural vegetable dyes rather than chrome dyes. Because they’re dyed using plant-based tannins instead of heavy metals, they’re generally considered a healthier option for your skin and better for the environment. One trade-off is that, particularly in the early stages of wear or in hot conditions, some colour transfer can occur.
The staining isn’t permanent and will wash off easily with soap and water, and it usually settles once the leather has fully broken in.
