Finding boots that are ultra-minimalist, featuring a wide toebox, lightweight form and zero-drop design doesn't need to be difficult!

If you loved the incredibly good looking Leather Boulder Boot, have we got something exciting for you. The upgraded version is made with all the features you know and love, like supreme flexibility, a zero-drop platform, and unparalleled packability, but now, it’s also waterproof! That’s right, you can dive right into your next adventure while keeping your feet fully dry.

This boot still maintains the lightweight frame you’ve come to know and love from Lems — even though they have added a unique waterproof membrane, these puppies still hit the scale at a featherlight 365gm.

They also took some time to rethink the overall construction of the boot, and reinforced everything; from a thicker gauge thread to an overall stronger outer construction, this is the toughest pair yet. And yes, before you ask, they’re zero-drop. Ready to roll through a river, plow through an ice pack, or anything else on your agenda? Good, because so are the Waterproof Boulder Boots, which keep your feet shockingly clear from clammy conditions due to a breathable waterproof membrane that stops water from penetrating into the boot, while still allowing the heat from your feet to escape. This kind-of-a-big-deal boot also utilizes a pre-treated leather upper, that can be reapplied with waterproofing wax/spray to help extend its water repellency.

The Waterproof Boulder Boot is the one shoe that does it all without ever missing a step. You can easily pack it, but you’ll also feel good wearing it everywhere, everyday. And just so you know — this boot was designed with an incredible amount of detail and care, and we can’t wait to see where you go in it.

Waterproof Boulder boot

Sizing seems to be an ongoing issue with these. Don't get me wrong, they are very comfortable and I really like wearing them. I wear them for farm work and am in them all day, but they are a very small sizing compared to any other shoe I've ever owned, even other Lems shoes. When I first tried them on given they were a different shape to all my other shoes and boots they felt very comfy. I wore them around the house for a few nights to make sure. But after wearing them for a few days outside they really are a half size or full size too small. Still wearable but, so i won't be wasting my money, but i will be very careful next time. Both the other two pairs of Lems shoes I have bought, just before these, the sizings were very good so I am not sure what the problem is with these unfortunately.

Returned

The high ankles restricted movement. The laces couldn't tighten the toe box which is reasonably large. The folds next to the tongue are in the same material as the boot and can dig into the ankle. Design modification may be to have fabric beside the tongue to prevent this. The tread is shallow. Returned due to discomfort.

Great if they fit

Unfortunately, even though the boot length was right after an exchange, the seam where the tongue joined the boot dug into my ankle on one side. Despite wearing them inside for several hours, really wanting them to settle in, even with the laces loose at the top, they remained uncomfortable. They were quite deep so needed two inner soles as they couldn't be tightened over the lower part of the foot. I returned them for a refund, am waiting for this to come through. The tread is fine for everyday use but probably not ideal for rocky tracks. I could tell that they could be very comfortable apart from that one issue.

Lems Waterproof Boulder Boot

I love these. They are so very comfortable and I like the look. I have been wearing them with jeans around town and have also worn them for a couple of bush walks. They have not disappointed me at all. They are super comfortable. They are zero drop which I love and also provide some protection from spiky undergrowth and stones. I bought some canvas boulder boots 4 years ago. I had discovered zero drop shoes and had also learned that there was a shop that sold Lems in Vancouver, called ‘Distance Runner’. I am from Australia but was there for a Toastmasters convention in 2017. I bought the Boulder boots and also some red Primal 2’s. As soon as my feet were in them they felt instantly so comfortable, that I didn’t want to take them off. This goes for both the boulder boots and the primal 2’s. I love them both although perhaps the Primal 2’s are just that bit softer and more welcoming to my feet after a day’s hard walking However I ‘relegated’ the boulder boots for use on my farm work job where my role is to walk up & down rows of strawberry runners. I stop frequently to check the leaves, using my magnifier, for pests as well as for beneficial critters. Sometimes the ground underfoot is dry, sometimes it is wet & muddy. It is not uncommon to walk about 10 kms per day altogether as I pace up and down the rows of crop.I once wore Blundstone boots when walking in the paddocks. But they were heavy on my feet, they pinched my toes, the leather cracked with the constant wetness followed by drying out, They became hard and uncomfortable. My feet hated them and so did I. This was the reason I decided to use my boulder boots for the job. They were a delight, so light on my feet and comfortable. No toe pinching at all. These were not the waterproof ones so they were frequently wet and then dried again. But unlike the Blundstones, the boulder boots stayed soft and comfortable despite frequently getting wet and then drying out. This is a very tough testing sort of a workout for any type of footwear. But after four seasons of this treatment, my original boulder boots are still hanging together. Clearly they were extremely well made in the first place, to be able to withstand such tough conditions! They are just now starting to fray a little. This is the reason I thought to replace them with another pair. However the new waterproof leather ones are so lovely that I don’t like to dirty them in the muddy clay paddocks! I think I can get another season’s wear out of my old boulder boots before they fall apart from this tough treatment. So this is not exactly a review of my new Waterproof Boulder Boots. It is a review of my old Boulcer boots as well. regards Linda H
