Loving these for hiking so far. Make so much sense because the shoe is flexible you can actually grip rocks and get up steep terrain (instead of having an inch of rubber between yourself and the ground). Not as thin as I thought they would be, plenty of protection for rocks and stuff. Sizing is as expected. Im usually a US womens 6-7 and the 6.5 fits well. I figured brown is a good colour because it wont show the dirt as well, we'll see I might get the Olive one's in the future but I'd like to try another style first like the Chillum to wear to the office, and see how that goes.

I bought these shoes a few years ago and wear them nearly everyday, except when I'm wearing my other pair Lems Primal 2. I love the flexibility and lightweight feel, almost like I'm not wearing shoes. This is great as I must wear shoes, (a few feet issues.) Can't believe they have lasted so long. Soles are looking a little worn now so time to buy another pair. Thought I might try the Chillum.

I’d had the black primal 2 for a while but they’re quite worn on the soles at this point. I purchased the brown to change up the style a bit and they’re fantastic. Love the primal 2 for feeling roomy and light and the brown goes with so much!
As the soles wear through a lot faster than any other damage to the shoe, a resoling option would be fantastic

I love these shoes. They look great. These are my first barefoot shoes, I removed the insole after a week. I immediately noticed the difference without that extra cushioning and ‘hugging’ of my feet. With the insole, I think these are great transition shoes. I have quite a wide for foot and narrow midfoot. These fit my feet perfectly, I can wear them for work too.

These are epic sandals! The moment I put them on it was luv! I'm usually barefoot almost all day, everyday. This can sometimes make my feet sore if im in our modern , concreted, tarred and pretty much flattened enviro for too long. Now that I have my earth runners my feet are so loving cared for, they're sooooo frickin comfy I don't want to take them off ! I still do to fully ground but what a fantastic options for navigating hard, flat spaces as well as perfect for hiking and trail running . And the team at Earth Runners even offered to make my right sandal a half size bigger than my left to help create the perfect fit for my perfectly imperfect sized feet Can u even get better service than that??!!!

These are truly the best shoes I have ever owned in my 26 years of existence on this planet. I will never buy another brand so long as Lems keeps producing these shoes (and the boulder boot, too!). Feet should always be free to move as they were designed and these shoes allow for that! Super light, flexible, zero drop, no arch, can't ask for more! I have plenty of toe room in these and that's so important to me. I get SO MANY complements on the Brown Primal 2. I usually wear a size 8.5 women's and the 41 fits perfectly. I took out the insole and that personally works best for me. Lems is a fabulous company and they were happy to quickly exchange a pair that did not work well for me. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I recently purchased 2 pair of the Lem Primal and I love them. I have a very wide foot (usually purchase men's D or E width shoes) and was concerned that these may be too narrow. I have a high arch. I love the shoe design and were them constantly but the top of the shoe constricts my arch in front it is not painful but it is tight at he spot where the tong and laces start. A little more room there and the shoe would be perfect in all ways.

When you've had foot problems all your life, and people telling you that you have to wear the heaviest and least flexible pair of sneaks in the store, and it just doesn't cut it anymore, you have to trust your instincts and go against the grain. My first minimalist shoes were Merrells, and they were the best for a while. My feet changed, and these weren't enough for my toes anymore. I then went on a lookout for a new shoe that would fit my requirements, and that would let my toes spread. The Primal 2 was it. I had never bought shoes online before, and was really scared that they wouldn't fit me. Turns out these are so comfortable that I wear them to work as much as for play.

I work out at the gym and lift weights regularly. These are the only shoes I've found that have a big enough toe box for my toes to spread naturally, have a 0 heel rise, and give me enough support to balance properly while lifting. All the other gym shoes I've tried either have a substantial heel rise or a too narrow toe box. And the five finger shoes--which I love for hiking--threw my balance off when weight training. Also, I like the look of these shoes--they're great for casual wear.

I love these shoes. I've been looking for the perfect shoe for an upcoming 80-mile hike -- something I can walk in for long days, doesn't kill my feet, gives good ground-feel yet protects from sharp rocks, dries quickly, and looks nice. The Primal 2 is perfect. They hug my feet just right but give ample room for spreading the toes. My feet can go for miles in these, whether walking, jumping rope, or sprinting after my dogs. I wear these for work and the first few days my legs were sore. But I knew that the transition to a zero drop shoe would not be instantaneous. I wear an 8 1/2 US which is a 41 in this style but I ended up choosing a 42 because I wear them with toe socks and correct toes and I wanted plenty of room without having to remove the liner. The wide toe box is great and allows for natural toe splay which is so much more helpful for balance in walking and standing.

I have worn the Primal 2 for about 5 weeks and I love them. They are the only shoes I wear now along with the toe socks and the Correct Toes. I have high hopes that my crooked toes will straighten (one was starting to overlap the big toe) and maybe, just maybe, my bunions will disappear! I no longer have foot and toe cramping and my feet don't ache no matter how far I walk. Next I'm getting the Boulder Boot in the Navy. They look awesome! Lems shoes are medicine for my body!

Love these. Great all around wear shoes. Had to go up a size from the sizing chart from a 42 to a 43. If I was leaving the liners in I would have went up one more size. They will stretch a little so don't worry if they feel a hair snug at first. I still wear a low drop rockport with the toe box stretched out for work since I'm on my feet all day, but will wear these some days instead. And it is always lems and zero shows outside of work. Great product guys. Keep it up.

Overall - a good minimalist shoe. Only reason it is not 5 stars is that I would prefer a totally flat level around the arch. There is a bit of a grove easiest seen on the bottom of shoe that protrudes a bit. All and all, a great replacement for my Saucony jazz originals.

I'm a UK 9.5 (US 10.5) and bought the Mens Primal 2 Brown in size 44? They fit perfectly and are so comfortable. Plenty of space up front. Heel is held nicely so they don't slop around. Sole is quite flexible, but less than I'd hoped. I'd like for it to be a bit thinner, and have less protection under and around the heel. I'd definitely recommend them.

I've worn out my Brown version where the bottom Soles are getting very soft. But, that's because I've been wearing them all day everyday. They are comfortable out of the box and roomy compared to my Vivobarefoot RA; Only gripe is not waterproof and smells - I'm going to try waterproofing it with a spray & changing my socks from Cotton to Wool socks.

Purchased March 2012. These shoes quickly and easily became my favorite shoes. I previously had vibram five fingers for a few years before and enjoyed them. So, not new to minimal. I purchased these to run a tough mudder(mud run on steriods). I didnt train in them and got them just before the race bc can be easily washed and more protection than vff and I also wanted a normal shoe I could wear anywhere.

As far as barefoot shoes go. These are great. The sole is a tad bit thick, but that's nice in my not-so-urban area. I don't particularly like the slogan on the back of the shoe (but a sharpie fixed that).

Ordered these for work shoes and they are fabulous! Definitely more rugged/utilitarian looking than pretty but super comfy; great ground feel and, best if, I can feel the breeze on my toes! Only issue was the tongue of the shoe hit my ankle at an uncomfortable angle -- most likely because I have super high arches. Taking the laces out of the top hole solved this problem completely. All in all, very happy with this pair of shoes.

I have an original pair of Stems (look like primal 1) and they've lasted longer than I ever expected. I tore a tendon in my toe and since switching to these, my feet and ankles are stronger than ever. These shoes really make a big difference in your quality of life. I highly recommend. You have to get used to them, but once you do take out the insoles and wear them full time.

These are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn! However, I walk a lot in the city and the soles lose tread and wear through very quickly. I'd estimate I get about 300 miles out of them, which for me is 3 months (not very long). My other shoes, which have harder rubber soles, last about a year and cost half as much... but those make my toes sad... If Lems lasted 6 months, I'd give them 5 stars!

This is the third pair of Primal 1 shoes that I have purchased, so that about says it all. I fine these to be the most comfortable shoes I own. I like them for hiking and Jogging as well as more general use. The brown ones look good enough for everyday wear. The company is very responsive and easy to work with.

I have flat feet and have a tough time finding comfortable shoes. Some shoes start ok but eventually start hurting the arches of my feet. The stem shoes (brown) have been awesome so far and the most comfortable shoes I have worn in years. Would love to buy another pair with a wind/water proof upper especially for winter. (on sizing, I usually wear 10.5 but for the stem shoes the 11-11.5 was a better fit for me) thanks a lot

I have bunions in both my feet: I am a critical care RN running too much(sometimes literally) around my unit to get things done. I developed bunions, they hurt was considering surgery. After much review, I saw the shoe online, I saw the toe divider and decided to try them. I love the shoes and the toe divider. I am still far away from seeing results as they don't happen overnight, but if I can avoid the surgery, I'll take it anytime.

I wear sandals a lot in the spring and summer. When the winter turns cooler I'm usually wearing boots for the duration though my feet are less than happy with the change. There's too much structure and shape. The Primal 2s are the perfect antidote. A shoe to provide some additional protection but that free and easy feeling that make my feet so happy. The all-new Primal 2's are a nice upgrade to the original Stems & their second-generation Lemings. The soles remain unchanged while the tongue is thicker & bears the Primal 2 name. The excessive stitching on the shoe has been removed & the lace loops replaced with traditional eyelets. The heel cup is more stiff & now sports the Lem logo. These are ULTRA-COMFORTABLE shoes! If you like minimalist footwear, you will NOT be disappointed in the purchase of this shoe.

This is the only way to have warm feet while you still have all the benefits you would have had if you could go barefoot. I also have to wear shoes to work - but with my Stems, it is like going to work barefoot. I think of them as my Emperor's New Clothes - everybody thinks I am wearing shoes, but I am really going barefoot!

The only problem I've had is getting used to them while running cross country. Since these are the most minimal shoes I've ever used, my calves got outrageously sore after speedwork and my feet begged for mercy after running several miles of hard surfaces. This was without the insoles, however. Like any minimalist shoe, a gradual approach should be taken until those dormant muscles and tendons down there get stronger.

Found Lems through Correct Toes website. I was looking for a minimalist with a wide toe box. Love the Lems; so comfortable from the start. I'm a half size so ordered up but probably should have gone down. Didn't want to send back because I was leaving for vacation. Did a lot of hiking...very comfortable.
