Got these only because they were on sale, taking the risk that they would be a size too big (totally on me). And they are. Ok with thick sox though and alright for short walks around town, although the front uppers tend to pucker up. Will keep them for a season and see how they go. Unlikely to buy this model again though. More likely to keep wearing the pair of Freet boots that I have from last year

I took a while to land on this purchase, after many weeks of research, but I've been really pleased with my final choice. They look presentable enough to wear everyday - (not too 'hikey' looking) - and they're the next best thing to going completely barefoot. I've worn them almost everyday - almost everywhere - since purchasing them a fortnight ago. If I walk a long way on cement paths, I find I need to step off onto the grass for a while, just to cushion my feet a bit. But mostly, I forget I'm wearing any shoes ... my feet feel FREE!

I purchased the Altra Escalante 4 to walk longer distances. Very happy with the comfort of this shoe and they look so good, I also wear them to work.
I did utilise the free return previous to getting these boots. The original pair I ordered were a bit snug considering a thicker sock required for comfort when hiking. Great service & adds to confidence when ordering knowing there is a clear option to return.
I’m loving these boots. No “wearing in” required, feel like I’ve had them forever. Such a good feeling to let my feet take their natural form.
